Cheesy Sausage Pizza Twists

1 lb (450g) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

8 oz (225g) Italian sausage, casings removed

1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese

½ cup (120ml) marinara sauce (plus more for dipping)

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1 tsp garlic powder

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Olive oil (for drizzling)

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain excess fat and let it cool slightly.

      Prepare the Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Cut the dough into long strips (about 1 inch wide) using a pizza cutter or knife.

        Fill the Twists: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Mix well. Place a generous spoonful of this mixture at one end of each dough strip.

          Twist the Strips: Grab the edge of each dough strip with the filling and twist it a few times to form a spiral shape. Pinch the ends to seal the filling inside and place them seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

            Brush with Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the pizza twists with the beaten egg for a golden finish. Drizzle a little olive oil on top for added flavor.

              Bake: Bake the twists in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.

                Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping and garnished with fresh basil leaves.
