Ingredients

8 oz fettuccine or spaghetti

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 cups broccoli florets

4 tbsp unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Juice of 1 lemon

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the fettuccine or spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. In the last 3 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets. Drain, reserving about 1 cup of the pasta water.

Prepare the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of the butter. Add the shrimp and season with salt and black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until the shrimp are pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Add Cream and Cheese: Pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water gradually until desired consistency is reached.

Combine: Return the cooked shrimp and broccoli to the skillet, tossing everything together until well coated in the creamy sauce. Squeeze in the lemon juice and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.

Serve: Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley and an extra sprinkle of Parmesan if desired.
