12 oz pasta (fettuccine or penne)

2 tbsp olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

Red pepper flakes (optional, for a hint of heat)

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.

    Sauté Garlic: In the same pot over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, sauté the minced garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
