Ingredients

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup crumbled cooked bacon (optional)

4-6 fresh jalapeños, finely chopped (reduce for less heat)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1 package (8 oz) crescent roll dough

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred for extra crispiness)

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

Cooking spray or oil for frying

Instructions

Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, chopped jalapeños, cooked bacon (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended and set aside.

Roll Out the Crescent Dough: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface. Pinch the seams together to form a single sheet.

Fill the Rolls: Take a generous tablespoon of the jalapeño cream cheese mixture and place it at the wide end of each triangle of dough. Roll the dough tightly around the filling, starting from the wide end and rolling towards the point.

Coat the Rolls: Set up a breading station. Place the flour in one bowl, the beaten eggs in another, and the breadcrumbs in a third bowl. Dip each filled roll first into the flour, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.

Bake the Rolls: Place the coated rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Fry Option: For an extra crunchy texture, heat oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Fry the rolls until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

Serve: Allow the crispy jalapeño popper rolls to cool slightly before serving. They are delicious on their own or served with ranch dressing or your favorite dipping sauce.
