Preheat the Waffle Maker: Begin by preheating your waffle maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.

    Prepare the Waffle Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. In another bowl, mix the egg, buttermilk, and melted butter until combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined. Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese, being careful not to overmix.
