1/4 cup rolled oats

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup honey or maple syrup

1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (at least 70% cocoa)

1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together almond flour, rolled oats, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

      Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the honey or maple syrup, unsweetened applesauce, and vanilla extract until smooth.

        Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter should be thick. If you’re using nuts, fold them in at this stage.

          Add Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the dark chocolate chips, ensuring an even distribution throughout the dough.

            Shape the Bites: Using a tablespoon or a small cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each bite.

              Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are slightly firm and the centers look set.

                Cool Down: Remove from the oven and let the bites cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
