Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1 cup whole milk, warmed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp salt

For the Brown Butter Filling:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, browned

1 cup brown sugar, packed

2 tbsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)

For the Maple Cream Cheese Frosting:

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

2 tbsp pure maple syrup

1 tsp vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

Instructions

Make the Dough: In a small bowl, combine warmed milk and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Add the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Prepare the Brown Butter Filling: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter and continue cooking until it’s golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and the brown butter until well combined.

Roll Out the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll the dough out into a 16x20 inch rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.

Spread the Filling: Evenly spread the brown butter filling over the entire surface of the dough, leaving about an inch around the edges.

Roll the Dough: Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough into a log, pinching the seam to seal. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.

Second Rise: Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish or two round cake pans. Cover with a cloth and let them rise again for about 30-45 minutes, until puffed.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake the Rolls: Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

Make the Maple Cream Cheese Frosting: In a bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt, mixing until creamy.

Frost and Serve: Spread the maple cream cheese frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls. Drizzle a little extra maple syrup on top, if desired.

Enjoy! Serve warm and enjoy the mouthwatering flavors of Maple Brown Butter Cinnamon Rolls.
