2 cups fresh broccoli florets, finely chopped

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

3/4 cup whole milk

1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Optional: extra cheddar for topping

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Prepare the Broccoli: Steam the finely chopped broccoli florets for about 3-4 minutes until tender but still vibrant. Drain and let cool slightly.

      Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

        Cut in the Butter: Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

          Incorporate Milk and Cheese: Pour in the milk and add the shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until just combined. Gently fold in the steamed broccoli until evenly distributed.
