Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)

4 oz (113g) sliced ham

4 oz (113g) cheese (Swiss or cheddar, sliced)

1 egg (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon fresh chives (chopped, optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Flour for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet into a large rectangle, about 1/8 inch thick. Cut the sheet into small triangles (approximately 3x4 inches each).

Assemble the Filling: Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on each triangle, leaving about a half-inch border. Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on each triangle. Sprinkle some chopped chives, along with a pinch of salt and pepper, on top for added flavor.

Roll the Croissants: Starting from the wide end, carefully roll each triangle toward the point to form a crescent shape. Make sure to tuck the edges slightly to keep the filling from spilling out.

Brush with Egg Wash: In a small bowl, beat the egg to make the egg wash. Brush the tops of each rolled croissant generously with the egg wash for a golden finish.

Bake: Place the croissants on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until they are puffed and golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool on a rack for about 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm for the best flavor!
