Slow Cooker Neapolitan Cake Chili

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 bell pepper, diced (choose your favorite color)

1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed

1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 cup tomato sauce

1 tbsp chili powder

1 tbsp cumin

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

2 tbsp brown sugar

1 cup sliced mushrooms

1/2 cup diced strawberries (for a sweet note)

1/2 cup mini marshmallows (for topping)

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for topping)

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Instructions
 

In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey until fully cooked. Drain excess fat, then transfer the meat to the slow cooker.

    Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, diced bell pepper, kidney beans, black beans, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and sliced mushrooms to the slow cooker with the meat.

      Sprinkle in the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and brown sugar. Stir everything together to combine well.
